Shop the Star Style

We are heading into cold weather but florals are still going strong in Bollywood. Florals are fun and versatile and can easily transition into winters by just adding a blazer or cardigan and some boots.
Will you be adding any florals to ur winter wardrobe?

Here is some celeb style for less. Thanks to Maitri for helping me with this!!

Shop the Star style - Colorblock dress

Who: Deepika Padukone
Where: Lafangey Parindey press meet

I have been lusting after colorblock dresses ever since I saw Carrie Bradshaw wear this beautiful dress in SATC. This summer I saw a number of such dresses in stores, mainly in three colors. They look polished and also save me the hassle of finding tops for my skirts:-)

Deepika wore one such dress in a white/blue colors with some rather ugly shoes. I wish she had gone for a brighter color. Do like her sleek hairstyle...Here are some more cute options:

Shop the summer trend - Dress shorts

I am really amazed at how the fashion media/marketing have taken something so common and staple as shorts and made it the hottest item this Summer. I mean we all own at least one pair of shorts, right. But noooo, its only now that it is fashionable to wear them..All those past Summers, boy, were we so uncool:-)

I have picked some dress short and combined them with different tops for outfits that you could wear to a dinner date. Happy Shopping!!

Shop the Spring trend - Metal accents

Weekend is here - time to spend some/all of our hard earned moolah. I work to shop:-) Today we look at metal accents - a special request from one of my earliest followers, Maitri. In fact, she picked a lot of the outfits today.

Metal details are hot this spring and they add a rock n roll, rebellious attitude to any outfit. Depending upon how you style it, you can either go for a biker or a punk yet chic look. For a biker look, go for metal studs that are large in size, pyramid shaped, pointy/spiky, loads of black eyeliner and it will help ur cause if you ride with the Hells Angel:-) For a punk chic look, go for a classy silhouette with small, round metal studs and wear only one or two pieces of this trend. I usually add some styling tips but fashion is all about fun, trying new combinations and finding something that makes you comfortable..So lets kick some ass!!

Shop the Spring trend - Florals

I am soo upset at Mother Nature. Its already April - where is Spring?? If I was this late at a work deadline, I would be in trouble!!Come rain or hail, I am going to wear my Spring clothes/open-toed shoes this week and shame Winter into leaving..And if I am missing in action for the next few days, it just means I am down with pneumonia:-)

Fun and flirty floral Prints were big on runways for Spring/Summer 2010. Few things to keep in mind while wearing florals:
1) Make sure the print doesn't overwhelm you. They should be in proportion to your frame - smaller prints on smaller frames, larger florals on larger frames.
2) If you are going for a head-to-toe floral, choose one color from the pattern for your accessories and keep ur shoes/bag in that solid color.
3)If mixing floral pattern with another floral pattern, keep both of them in the same color family. Do not mix florals with stripes/plaid unless you are SJP, Olsens or Lady Gaga:-)
4) If you are doing one piece in floral, then again pick one color from the pattern and wear the top/bottom in that color.
Floral is a girly-girl print and if you are not a girly person, you can tone it down with boyfriend blazer or add some toughness with some fierce shoes or leather jacket/studded vest or fingerless gloves..

Shop the Star Style - Ruffles

We have been seeing a lot of ruffles on the red carpet. Ruffles is one of the strongest trends right now - feminine and romantic. Some things to keep in mind when wearing ruffles:
1) Ruffles add volume. So if you are top heavy, avoid a ruffled top or go for top with a v-neck and ruffles down the center. If you are bottom heavy, avoid ruffles around your waist.
2) Try to balance your overall look by pairing ruffles with tailored, structured pieces. Ruffle top will look best with skinny jeans/pencil skirt. Wear simple t-shirts with ruffle skirts. If you are wearing a ruffle dress, try to go for strapless/spaghetti strap or wear a belt to add curves and avoid looking bulky. Make sure that that the ruffles do not overwhelm your frame.
3) As always don't overindulge. Wear only one clothing item with ruffles.

Here are some cute pieces to try on....

Bottom row( L to R): topshop, Ann Taylor($48)
