The good and the boring..

Who: Deepika Padukone
Where: Fiama Di Willis promotional event

Deepika looks pretty in an outfit that is flattering and easy. She wore a green dress perfectly put together with brown accessories. The green really compliments her skin color and I like how she mixed up her bangles..

Who: Mugdha Godse
Where: "Anjaana Anjaani" screening

Mughda dressed up like a 5-year old out on a playdate..I know you're not as stupid as you look. Nobody could be!

Left: Sonakshi Sinha, Right: Sophie Choudry
Where: "Anjaana Anjaani" screening

Sophie and Sonakshi did black-white outfits at the movie screening. Sonakshi was in tights, cardigan and tee whereas Sophie wore a polka dot top with her wrap pants. I guess they work for a movie screening but some color would have upgraded the look..

Who: Dia Mirza
Where: (L) Anjaana Anjaani screening, (R) Pankaj Prakasher painting exhibition

Dia's last couple of appearances were really blah. Both outfits were dull and un-inspiring...Whats with the snooze-fest? You need to try a little harder, hon...

Whats your color contrast?

Yesterday, Aishwarya wore a silver Roberto Cavalli gown and teamed it with a blue clutch. The contrast didnt sit well with me. At the same event, Rachel Bilson was seen in an animal print dress which she teamed with a bright reddish-ornage clutch. And that looked gorgeous!! So what are some colors that should never be paired? and when does it seal the deal?? Was I too quick to judge Aishwarya :-)

I love playing with colors but I do keep in mind that (i) there isnt a whole lot already going on with my outfit( ii) I dont overdo the color (iii) the contrast is "soft" and not "harsh"..

So which "pop of color" did you like the best? What color contrasts do you rock in personal life?

Aishwarya Rai at Roberto Cavalli party

Who: Aishwarya Rai
Where: Roberto Cavalli 40th anniversary event in Paris

My jaw dropped when I saw these pics (a) Aishwarya is not wearing black (b) She looks am-mah-zing!!

Aishwarya is stunning in a decolletage-baring silver gown that has scales all over giving it a very mermaid-ish effect. The gown has a fringe at the neckline and the embellishments on the bodice give it a two-tone effect. She went for loose waves, smoky eyes and deep blue clutch. I am a little iffy on her clutch - the color contrast is too sharp for me...

What do you say? Does she "shut down" the red carpet? or is it too fishy for your taste?

Aishwarya and Abhishek do black again

Who: Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan

After attending the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show, Abhishek and Aishwarya headed over to Armani restaurant to close out the evening. They were again color-coordinated in black but I like this look way better than what they wore to fashion show. This is the best picture available and looks like Aishwarya wore a tiered dress. I can make out different textures as well as an embellished layer. I think she should wear dresses more often as it gives her a very youthful appearance..And more color!!

The camera caught Abhishek at a very odd angle:-)

I am not complaining..

Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: KC college for movie promotions

Yes, I know I give her grief for being stuck in a style rut so I plead temporary insanity:-) I found this dress very adorable. Its sweet and simple and just perfect for causal wear. And the flats are a perfect touch..

Sonakshi scores in red

Who: Sonakshi Sinha
Where: MY Salvatore Ferragamo Store launch

Sonakshi wore an attention grabbing red dress to the launch of MY Salvatore Ferragamo store. She added a youthful touch to the sophisticated dress with a side plait which I am really loving. Black patent bag and shoe completed the look. What do you guys think - good, bad or ugly?

Style diaries

Who: Dia Mirza
Where: Zangoora Kingdom of Dreams opening

Dia looks elegant and classy in a white ensemble. It appears to be anarkali and the dress has lots of lovely details - all -over-embroidery, silver embellishments at the hemline and in dupatta/scarf - that makes this simple outfit more interesting.

Who: Mandira Bedi
Where: Launch of 212 perfume

Isnt her itsy-bitsy top/choli stunning?? And the soft pink is just the perfect shade of pink to go with the gold sequins. Mandira in her famous noodle-strap blouses..Is it cricket season??
btw, Mandira's clavicles are sharp enough to be classified as weapons:-)

Who: Suchitra Pillai
Where: Short film festival at Versova

WTH??That outfit is one nasty thing. What made Suchitra wear those jeans?? The top sans the jeans could have worked with those shoes...

Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan at Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2011

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan attended the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week Womenswear. They wore "his-and-hers" matching black suits.
Abhishek looks really smart and handsome..Aish on the other hand seems to have worn a jacket a size too large. It appears to be ill-fitted around the bust and waist. Also, this kind of jacket would have looked better with tapered pants and not the wide ones she wore...
Aishwarya kept her accessories simple and in black with just a clutch and pumps. Neck up there is no doubting her grace and beauty..

Events: GQ awards 2010

Who: Priyanka Chopra

Looks like Priyanka is reading our blog becoz this time around she changed her hairstyle and makeup!! I do like her curly hair but I am not sure if the smoky eyes work on her. And even though she wore a gold/beige floor length gown, she could not resist showing off her legs:-) Old habits die hard...

Priyanka won the GQ woman of the year award, 2010. And all it took was wearing minis all year around:-)

Abhishek and Aishwarya :

1) look perfect, sigh...
2) bore me to death.

Abhishek won Ultimate GQ Man award, 2010 - If anyone can figure out what "ultimate man" means, dolet me know.. Aish won GQ Excellence Awards 2010 - No comments...

Who: Abhay Deol ( I refuse to acknowledge his GF)

Abhay Deol has a girl friend!! And that also someone this cute!! How come no one told me?? Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!sob!!

Left: Mehr Jessia, Center: Lisa Haydon, Right: Ayesha Thapar

Thru my tears, I see that Mehr continues with her no-makeup look and wore a cute Chanel dress to the event.
Lisa went for a sheer maxi dress accessorized with a gold clutch.
And Ayesha rocked a sequins LBD. All of them made sure that their best feature - toned, beautiful legs - was amply highlighted.

Left: Aamir Khan, Center: Rahul Khanna, Right: Arjun Ramphal

Perfect eye candy to start the week!! All three look handsome and delicious in their black power suits..I think my heart is startin to beat again;-)

GQ Most Stylish Man Award, 2010: Arjun Ramphal
Cinematic Icon Award, 2010 : Aamir Khan

Events: Dabangg Success party

Who: Malaika Arora Khan

One of my favorite color pairings is teal with purple but its very important to not overdo the colors. Malaika's teal dress is pretty and I think her purple bow shoes are to die for but somehow this is not working for me..I think a nude clutch would have looked better..what do you guys think? Am I being too critical?

Who: Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi has all the reasons to smile. Her first movie is the second highest grossing Bollywood movie of all times!! And I think she should have gone all out a la Cinderella at the ball for the success party:-) Instead she went for a Bohemian look in what looks like a patchwork dress. Unfortunately, her hair covers the top part so cant clearly make out..

I am not going to be a party pooper today - so congrats and all the best!!

Who: Bhavna Pandey

Bhavna wearing one of the hottest trends this year - animal prints with florals. I like the cut of her pencil skirt and even though the top isn't exactly going with the skirt, it looks like a fun look and I kinda like it..

Sonali is (almost) perfect!!

Who: Sonali Bendre
Where: India Got Talent finalists event

I dont think anyone has ever looked this good in a jumpsuit! Sonali in a blue jumpsuit that she accesorized with a stunning statement necklace. The jumpsuit has lovely sheen and I like the way the material drapes too; it’s dressy in a completely unexpected way. If not for the the weird fitting near her va-jay-jay, this would have been a flawless appearance.

Once in a blue moon..

Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: "Anjaani Anjaana" promotions

..Priyanka changes her style:-) See, You don't have to always show your legs to look good!! Priyanka in a funky print shirt and jeans..What do you guys thing? Priyanka changed for better or worse?

At this point, I'll take anything and this aint bad...

The shoe diaries

Who: Shahzahn Padamsee
Where: 212 perfume launch

Shahzahn takes accessories to the next level - the dress was ok but the addition of belt and clutch makes the whole outfit look tacky. The blue pumps are pretty on their own but are very distracting with the dress..

Who: Nishika Lulla
Where: 212 perfume launch

Nishika wore a cute ethnic printed skirt which she teamed with a tee and denim vest. I like the color combination of her outfit but again find the shoes too mismatched..Since there are so many colors in her outfit, nude pumps would have looked best..

Aishwarya at Guzaarish promos

Who: Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan
Where: "Guzaarish" first look

Aishwarya kept it simple in a Juicy Couture peasant top and jeans at the unveiling of her new movie "Guzaarish". Its a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie and also stars Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik looks pretty smart in his blazer and jeans combo - although the jeans are a tad long...

Here is the "Guzaarish" promo. The movie looks interesting and different:-) Are you guys looking forward to it?

Daily Catch

Who: Manidra Bedi
Where: Nishita Merchant's accessories launch

Mandira changed out of her uniform of short dresses into a cute anarkali for an accessories launch. She gave it her touch by going for a strapless design. I like how she layered a pearl necklace with a jade green one.

Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: Peace event in wake of Babri Masjid verdict

Will Priyanka never changer her style? More than anything, I think its inappropriate outfit for an event that has nothing to do with movies/fashion but with ensuring peace between two religious communities.. She might start a riot herself in her mini:-)

Who: Guest
Where: Nishita Merchant's accessories launch

I love the simplicity and color of this dress. The gold goes really well with the color and the narrow gold strip draws attention to her slim waist. All about highlighting your best features.

Looks of the day

Who: Malaika Arora Khan
Where: Special charity screening of "Dabangg"

Dayum, She makes even a simple pair of jeans looks so am-muh-zing! Malaika has a very well portioned body and this outfit shows off her tiny waist.
She wore a halter neck black top with jeans and recycled yesterday's bag and shoes. Those sequin faces on her top are a little creepy...

Who: Kangana Ranaut
Where: Mahurat of "Power"

Even though its only Wednesday, Kangana decided to do "Casual Friday". She dressed down in a cute ruffle dress. Not sure why she has such a sullen expression on her face - did she just realize its only mid-week:-) Or maybe she saw her footwear - hey, even I would be upset!!

Who: Ameesha Patel
Where: Mahurat of "Power"

What do you think? Is Ameesha's dress an upgrade or downgrade from her last red carpet look? Dunno know about the outfit but she definitely needs to get her foundation right...

Celebs at Lakme Fashion Week Winter 2010

Left: Rani Mukherjee, Right: Mugdha Godse

Rani in a yawn inducing outfit that combines her two current loves - black color and jumpsuits. I anoint thee Queen of Snoozeville!!

Black is the color of the day for Mughda! She wore a black jumpsuit to the Araish event and in the evening, changed into a black anarkali for Neeta Lulla's show. Cant find any major flaws other than her shoes..

Who:Tabu
Left: Shabana Azmi's party, Right: Lakme Fashion Week 2010

Tabu continue her love affair with sequins and short dresses. I like her white/gold outfit - its good I cant see her shoes since I am sureto be disappointed:-) The blue looks good on Tabu but I am not sure about the fit of the dress..Its really looks like a sack..

Left: Juhi Chawla, Right: Amisha Patel

Juhi and Amisha wore anarkalis to Neeta Lulla's fashion show. One looks graceful and elegant, the other looks like an idiotic moron..No prizes for guessing which one is which:-)

Who: Soniya Mehra

Its just not my day when even Soniya fails to cheer me up!! Sigh..Soniya wore a floral, multi-tiered dress to the event. I like her side-braid, the floral part of the dress and her gorgeous oxfords. The polka-dot part just doesn't flow with the rest of the outfit..Maybe if the dots were closer...

Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Malini Ramani

Malini Ramani showcased Lakmé’s theme for the season - the Gypsy Collection, at the Lakme Fashion Week, Grand Finale. The collection was divided into four segments - Mystery, Bliss, Cosmic and Nirvana of life and consisted of tribal and gypsy looks.
Mystery consisted of black long creations with shimmering mirror and shell embroidery. Bliss was a riot of colors that ranged from yellow, red, orange, black, brown and green. Cosmic mode had outfits that were embellished with the magnificent feather, shell and coins. The show ended with Nirvana which was done in black and red with lots of mirror work.

A very big collection with some dresses that are outstanding and lots that are wearable once you strip away the makeup and accessories. I love most of the outfits in first and third row..The second row is way too colorful for me:-)

Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Neeta Lulla

Neeta Lulla celebrated her two decades in the fashion industry with a show that celebrated Bollywood glamour. Her collection consisted of dresses, evening gowns, sequins encrusted turkish pants and net lehenga/sari combos. The garments were dominated by sequins, glittering Swarovski crystals, rosettes and pleating. The fabrics were rich silks, satin, chiffon, net and crepe and the color palette was vibrant yellow, orange, turquoise, blue, mauve, flame red, gold and emerald green.

I found the whole collection loud and tacky and fit only for the silver screen. The showstopper was Sridevi in a gown which I hope I never see again not even in Bollywood item numbers!!

Key Looks

The Always Fabulous SriDevi

Events: Araish Save the child exhibition

Who: Twinkle Khanna

Twinkle makes few appearance but when she does, she sure does make us sit up. She wore a bright flowery pattern dress that isn't too frenetic and shows off her stems:-) She smartly balanced the hyper-hued combo with nude shoes and and a simple structured bag with metallic detail. The overall effect is fresh without being over the top girly.

Who: Malaika Arora Khan

Malaika picked a classic, black, tailored, dress short to wear to the event. She spruced up the look with purple bag, jewelry and, of course, plenty of leg. I like how she chose to tuck in her striped top, as it prevents the look from being too casual..Not sure why she picked those nudish-pink wedges??

It just so happens that I came across the same combination (black bottoms + striped top) styled differently by two fashion bloggers. See here and here for style inspirations.

Who: Mugdha Godse

One step forward, two step backward - thats how Mugdha and Fashion go. Waist up Mugdha looks cute and adorable - I give her points for that. But those tapered legs are just nutso!! And if that much ugliness was not enough, she added pink shoes.

Left: Raveena Tandon, Right: Madhoo

Raveena's pants are going to cut off her circulation..Madhoo jeans look like they have some kind of skin infection..
