Look of the day.

Who: Shilpa Shetty
Where: Sports Illustrated awards

That is one gorgeous color combination!! The bold shouldered top very nicely balances the tulip shaped, ruffled skirt. I didn't like the black rosette on the side and even though the pumps are nicely matched, they don't quite go with this outfit..She kept the accessories simple since the outfit itself is a major style statement.

Lakme fashion week Summer/Resort 2010 - Malini Ramani

Malini Ramani showcased five different resort collections on Day 3. Her collection was titled "Journey of Love" and it is a story of a woman's search for love(what else??) thru Mexico, the Cote d'Azur (France), Rajasthan and Zanzibar (Africa) and finally ending in Mumbai (where else??). I have picked two outfits per collection and the Mumbai one was modeled by Malini herself along with Mehr Jesia, Maheep Kapoor, and Bhavna Pandey. I liked the Mexico and Rajasthan collection, Cote d'Azur was borrring and the Mumbai one looked a little dull..

Celebs at Lakme fashion week.

The celeb turnout at Lakme fashion week was pretty poor. We still have 2 more days to go so maybe we will spot some brighter stars;-)

Who: Neha Dhupia

How cute is her outfit? Looks very chic and casual. I am not into baggy pleated pants but she has the height to pull it off and not look boxy. Her sunglasses are too black ( can a thing be too black?? - black is black after all, hmmm, but you do get my drift, dont you) It looks as if she is blind :o
(no offense to vision-impaired people)

Who: Dia Mirza

Dia in a very boring outfit. Come on, Dia, its fashion week!! put in some effort!!

Who: Vidya Balan

Vidya wearing a Sabyasachi designer sari on fashion week, day one. To me, it looks like a simple hand-loom cotton sari - not sure what the 'designer' part is??Lose the thumb ring (so tacky) and I think you can go one size up in bindis. What do you guys think?

I have no clue who she is (model, socialite??) but I am totally drooling over her dress and those kick-ass shoes. The outfit is simple yet elegant and the shoes give it an edgy look.

Lakme fashion week Summer/Resort 2010 - Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra - not sure what to write here;-) The most famous Bollywood designer who made a very successful transition into the Indian Fashion world. Who can forget 'Rangeela'?

His Summer/Resort 2010 collection had two main themes- ribbons (which he put on saris and salvaar-kameejs) and a mish-mash ugly print (which he cut into various outfits). Nothing in the entire collection to make my heart skip a beat. And surprise, surprise, he did not have any celebs walk the ramp!! My picks:

Lakme fashion week Summer/Resort 2010 - Lecoanet Hemant

Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar collection for Lakme fashion week was titled "Green". I couldn't find any writeup that suggested they used organic fabrics or used eco-friendly production techniques - just that the look had a 'organic' feel?? what is organic feel - wearing leaf head pieces?? Anyways, they did have some truly desirable pieces. I can totally see Neha Dhupia in the middle outfit minus the leaf ;-)

Lakme fashion week Summer/Resort 2010 - Abdul Halder

Abdul Halder did a bridal collection inspired by the Victorian/Mughal era. Tulle, brocade, silk and satin, sheer georgettes, velvets in bright colors - purple, red, blue, yellow, green, fuchsia, orange and pink, dazzled on the catwalk. The outfits were embellished with polkis, kundans and crystal work. Here are my top picks.
