Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - JJ Valaya
JJ Valaya is another of my favorite designers. His Autumn/Winter 2010 collection was inspired by feudal Indian performer/courtesan Alika and her quest for love. He presented both western and Indian outfits. His whole collection could be grouped into four colors - he starts out with gold/mauve, moves to fire-engine red, then beige+red, again light mauve and ends in jet black. All the models wore a red flower in their hair..I didn't like anything that he did in black:(This is not a bad collection but I wouldn't call it his best..Or maybe I just expect to be blown away by him, each time, every time:-)

Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Preeti Chandra
Preeti Chandra's collection was titled 'Animal Instinct' and she had a mix of furs and animal prints with every model wearing fur leg warmers and fur hairbands. All the outfits were embellished with sequined embroidery, velvet patchwork or the traditional metallic silver dabkaa work. Her color palette was mainly black/brown and the outfits had near perfect tailoring. I totally adored her collection and would love to own every piece she showed!!

Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Shantanu and Nikhil
Shantanu and Nikhil presented a Summer/Resort collection at LFW 2010 and just a month later did an Autumn/Winter collection at WIWF, 2010. Both the collection are poles apart and I am blown away by their creativity, versatility and hard work. The Autumn/Winter 2010 collection was inspired by iconic heroines of Woody Allen's films from the early forties and fifties. It was in three parts. Act One was mainly monochromatic outfits, Act Two introduced a hint of scarlet color and Act Three went all out with sensuous red outfits. I loved some outfits but the ruffles on many of the dresses were out of proportion and I was not not very impressed with the draping/finish of some outfits..

Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Ashima and Leena Singh
Ashima and Leena Singh's collection had a vintage feel to it. It looked as if the outfits were made of old faded, painted canvas - could be becoz of the colors. The colors were mainly in the rust/sienna family. Some of the dresses had bejeweled necklines and they used a lot of turquoise in their accessories. Nothing that really stood out - I just liked the vibe of the collection..

Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Rahul Mishra
I have a confession to make - I love anything in black/white!! So when I saw Rahul Mishra's collection, I went a little crazy - good, happy crazy:-) A major part of his collection was in monochromatic with graphic prints of concrete man-made structures. The idea behind his collection was that concrete is replacing nature leading to global warming crises and a small change on our part can prevent that. He also did a few pieces with chevron strips but I didn't feel any love and some pieces in solid colors which rocked. My picks:

Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Ritu beri
Ritu Beri presented a collection that was a tribute to the Indian army. There were army flags on the runway and a live military brand playing music. Her collection had lot of military inspired jackets (double-breast, high collar), velvet gowns and dresses. Although the jackets were very well tailored and smart, I had a sense of deja-vu since a lot of celebs have been sporting this style during the winter especially Rihanna. The color palette was grey, black, gold, electric blue and bright red. Here are some of the highlights.
