Magazine Covers - May 2011

Vogue - Katrina Kaif
Stardust - Sonam Kapoor
Grazia - Lara Dutta
Harper's Bazaar - Malaika Arora Khan

Katrina goes sultry and vamp-y for the Vogue cover. Its a nice change from her saccharine, white outfits and this would have been an amazing cover if not for the yellow fonts all over the place. They are so distracting!

Another month, another Sonam cover, sigh! Hate her hairstyle.

I like Grazia's cover - Lara looks fresh in a simple outfit.

Malaika wore a daring, slutty Pucci crochet dress for the cover. Since the dress is such an eyeful and is obviously meant to be the focus of the cover, everything else was kept simple and unfussy - nude makeup, curly hair, white/black fonts and a neutral background. Great cover - very well styled.
Love Malaika's hairstyle - gives her a soft look.

I really love my...

Who: Neha Dhupia studded vest. I think the beauty of the vest is lost on a black outfit. It looks crisp and smart when worn with a white outfit.

Who: Tisca Chopra

.. DVF clutch. Looks like its Tisca's go-to clutch for pale white outfits! Cant blame her - its pretty cute. Since its a neutral shade, it can be worn with any colored outfit - giving you more bang for your buck.

Freida at Glamour magazine party

Who: Freida Pinto
Where: Louis Vuitton store

Freida,Emma Stone and Ashley Greene attended a party at the Beverly Hills Louis Vuitton store last night to celebrate their Glamour cover. I think she is wearing LV but cant make out much. All I see is red lips and sexy legs - a totally irresistible combination ;-)

Freida has a new potential summer blockbuster movie coming out and I cant wait to see what she wears for the promos! Here is the trailer for Rise of the Apes.

Orange pop

Who: Deepika Padukone
Where: Simi's Show

Deepika is a glamor goddess in this divine orange outfit! She looks statuesque and everything about her look is spot on : her hair, golden cuff, minimal accessories - all perfection. The outfit is awfully similar to the one Kareena wore at the Stardust party but I like this one better.

Who: Anushka Sharma
Where: Re-launch of BBC TopGear magazine

Yes, its a simple outfit and the bad lighting makes Anushka look like she's either an alcoholic with liver damage or used to much bronzer on her skin, but she looks amazing! And those toned legs - va-va-voom!!
She changed her hair color to match her dress and that's not a good thing.

Spotted around town

Who: Kangana Ranuat

Looks like some kind of plant is growing from Kangana's waist and is about to strangle her! She does look starved of oxygen in the second pic:-)

Who: Asin

The dress is not that bad but the belt has to go - did Asin buy it from a dollar store?
Her chic ponytail looks elegant and the whole look is simple and classy (except for the belt).

Who: Ira Dubey

Great color, very well accessorized.

What do you wear to a movie screening?

Who: Neelam, Genelia D'souza, Shreya Saran

Who: Shazahn Padamsee, Soha Ali Khan, Dia Mirza

I am definitely don't dress up like Shreya but neither do I go as a homeless person (Shazahn)! My style is more like Soha but with heels and some makeup and my favorite accessories - a big bag of buttered popcorn and coke:-)

What do you wear?

Weekend Roundup

Who: Ameesha Patel
Where: Launch of her production house

That outfit is flawless!! Gorgeous color, perfect fit and beautiful draping! A better hairdo and some transparent Lucite bangles would have knocked it out of the ballpark but considering Ameesha past outfits, have to say she is perfect here!

Who: Neha Dhupia
Where: Album launch

Love Neha's lip color but her foundation color seems to be incorrect. The outfit could have worked if the skirt had been executed properly.

Who: Suzanne Roshan
Where: Farah Ali khan's store opening, Launch of Ameesha's prduction house

Suzanne deftly mixed a pair of pleat-front pants with a purple strapless silk blouse resulting in a light and lovely look. Paired with matchy shoes and brown clutch, she looks chic and polished. Cant say the same about her boring black/white maternity outfit! Also, Suzanne really needs to fix her hair!

Who: Natasha Khan
Where: Farah Ali khan's store opening

Great colors and I would love to see how Natasha incorporated tassels (hot trend!) into her belt.

Feeling no love

Who: Sushmita Sen
Where: "I am She" NGO event

Ok, I love Sushmita as much as you do guys, but she is making it very difficult for me to say anything nice here. The dress is terrible to say the least and she overdosed on the bronzer, too:-(

Who: Lara Dutta
Where: "Challo dilli" promos

Lara (another fav. of mine) does "I dream of Jeannie"!

Weekend Round - The beautiful and the bewildering

Who: Karisma Kapur
Where: Arena Polo match

Karisma is super elegant in this black/beige outfit. I love that she tied her hair which showcases her gorgeous, luminous skin and delicate shoulder bones. The length is a little awkward but she carries it off.

Who: Kangana Ranuat
Where: Femina Miss India Finale

This has to be Ms. Ranuat best appearance so far! Her classy do perfectly complements the stunning, modest(no boobs!!) pleated dress. And what color! Sigh!
Yes, the hemline could have been longer but I am pretty that piece of dress material went in covering her "girls" so am not complaining!

Who: Madhoo
Where: Arena Polo match

The print caught my eye(Custo Barcelona??) but on second thoughts me no like. It smells cheap to me:-(

Who: Genelia D'Souza, Neetu Chandra, Esa Koppikar
Where: Aston Martin lunch

Oh, the horrors!! I am never wearing white again!
The rate at which the celebs keep turning me of certain colors and trends, it will soon be time for me to join a nudist camp:P

Magazine Cover - L'Officiel April 2011

Who: Karisma Kapur

Karisma in Roberto Cavalli for the 9th anniversary issue of the magazine. That is one super-sexy dress but the styling (aka accessories and hairstyle) really don't do it justice. Would have preferred a more "bitchy" expression:-) And I am not sure I like the guys holding her pics.

Would you rather....?

Its been a long time since we played this game. So rather than post another set of terrible outfits, lets take a much needed break from Bollywood:-)
For all my new readers, this is a very simple - just choose one option from the below choices. ('None' or 'both' are not valid answers)

Would you rather..?
.. be a guest at Kate Middleton's wedding or Kate Moss? styled by Anna Dello Russo or Rachel Zoe?

.. rock the neutral trend this Spring or the Color-blocking trend?

.. wear a mini or maxi skirt this year?

.. sell your kidneys (and most probably your arms, legs - you get the picture!) for a Birkin or a Mulberry?

... skip an appetizer or dessert when counting calories?

My choices
1) Kate Middleton - I am sucker for fairy tales!
2) Rachel Zoe
3) Neutrals - every style blogger is doing color-blocking and I am so bored with it and its not even Spring yet!!
4) Mini -skirt.
5) This one is tough but will go with Mulberry.
6) Skip appetizers! I have chocolate running in my veins instead of blood:-)

Here are previous rounds of this game : here and here.

Have a fab weekend!!

Spotted around town

Who: Vidya Balan
Where: Seven hills cosmetic launch

Vidya as the "Runaway Bride"?? How else to explain the bridal saree and the unkempt hair? She sure does have a fetish for bridal sarees..

Who: Dia Mirza
Where: Panasonic event

Love the accessories but the dress, hmm, is blah. Have seen this nude + brown accessories a zillion times and I am bored.

Who: Amrita Rao
Where: "Luv u, Mr Kalakar" music launch

I like the dress, cute! Since the dress is so hyper, Amrita could have easily skipped the brooch at the waist and opted for simpler shoes. The current ones compete with the dress for attention.

I am too lazy to do a separate post. So here are the scans from Sonam Kapoor's latest photo shoot (April'11 Filmfare). One thing I have to say this girl sure does love to experiment and (ok, two things) its difficult to keep her away from photo shoots and magazine covers!

A post of few words...

Who: Sarah Jane Dias
Where: Elle breast cancer carnival

Do you see what I see? A dress with an arrow pointing to her coochie? Hon, if he needs direction, then you need to rethink:-)

Who: Lisa Haydon
Where: Elle breast cancer carnival

I know the invite said "carnival" but its not on the beach!!Flip-flops? Really, Lisa? REALLY? How lazy can you be?

Who: Rhea Kapoor
Where: Elle breast cancer carnival

The outfit is OK, nothing special, but oh those shoes are hideous! Did your sister tell you these are "in"? Ha, ha, You just got punk'd!!

Who: Amrita Puri, Tisca Chopra
Where: Elle breast cancer carnival

We end today's roundup of really bad outfits with a maternity dress and a grandma's castoffs!

Weekend Roundup

Who: Rani Mukherjee
Where: Laadli National awards

Rani is..
(a) dull and boring
(b) simple and elegant

Who: Yana Gupta
Where: "Chalo Dilli" promos

Yana ..
(a) rocks this pink number.
(b) is a toss up between pepto bismol and the pink panther. No?

Who: Sophie Choudry
Where: At Shane and Falguni show

The gold accessories..
(a) completely spoil the beauty of the dress.
(b) make her look trashy!
(c) are just perfect.

Who: Neha Dhupia
Where: Wills Lifestyle Fashion week 2011

This is just too sad! And I think Neha knows this.

Who: Priya Chatwal
Where: Wills Lifestyle Fashion week 2011

It is a JUMPSUIT people!
(a) That automatically means its terrible.
(b) It shouldn’t work. But it does. She looks great!

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2011 - Sabyasachi

The grand finale at the Wills Lifestyle Fashion week was by Sabyasachi. His collection had everything but the kitchen sink - black/gold embroidery, black/white, florals, stripes, maxi-skirts, minis, jumsuits, skirts over sarees! Sabyasachi is really great at showcasing Indian textiles and different types of Indian embroidery. His collection had a boho chic vibe but didn't have a whole lot of layering - something which is considered Sabysachi's forte.

As expected, all his models had stacked bangles and wore red roses in their hair. Sabyasachi always has his models do the same hair/accessories:-)

Who do I see wearing his collection? I didn't like the zebra stripes so I am sure Vidya will be the first one to wear it:-)
