Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 - Ashima and Leena Singh

Ashima and Leena Singh's collection had a vintage feel to it. It looked as if the outfits were made of old faded, painted canvas - could be becoz of the colors. The colors were mainly in the rust/sienna family. Some of the dresses had bejeweled necklines and they used a lot of turquoise in their accessories. Nothing that really stood out - I just liked the vibe of the collection..

Love this collection! Love the models.

I simply do not understand why Indian models are not more world renowned. Yes, okay Laxmi Menon is being hailed as India's first supermodel but...she is the western fashion world's idea of "ethnic" beauty.
Yes she is otherwordly beautiful but she is but one more in a LOOOONG list of divinely beautiful Indian women. I look at our Indian classics -Rekha, Parveen, Zeenat- and the new faces -Aishwarya, Bipasha, Katrina, Deepika- and then all the models, over all the years...and only now India gets recognised for "...having beautiful women"???

I'm quoting that because of something I read in either an Ujjwalla or Laxmi interview with an American magazine. It was so condescending. As if, oh wow, so Indian women are good looking.
